All Year 7 and 8 students will study a modern foreign language - either German or Japanese. This is a compulsory core subject in both Year 7 and 8.
To help us with our planning, we would like you to indicate which language your child would prefer to study by selecting your first preference.
While every effort will be made to give students their first choice, this may not always be possible. Thank you for understanding.
Please indicate your first preference for Year 7 and 8.

This approval covers excursions for Physical Education and Sport within Ballarat, and walking distance excursions from Ballarat High School in other subjects. Separate permission will be sought for other excursions.
I hereby permit my child to participate in all Physical Education and Sport activities outside the school, and excursions within walking distance of BHS, during 2025 and 2026. I authorise the teacher in charge of the excursion/activity to consent, where it is impracticable to communicate with me, to my child receiving such medical or surgical treatment as may be deemed necessary. I have recorded on the Student Enrolment Form any medical information, which may be useful in the event of an emergency. If the excursion/activity is finishing after school hours, I will make suitable arrangements for my child to return home after being dismissed.

During the school year there are many occasions and events where staff may photograph, film or record students participating in school activities and events. We do this for many reasons including to celebrate student participation and achievement, showcase learning programs, document a student’s learning journey at camps/excursions/events, communicate with our parents and school community in newsletters etc.
Ballarat High School understands that parents/carers have the right to withhold permission for our school to use photographs, video, or recordings of your child. Full details of this Policy can be found on the BHS website.
The permission granted below is for the duration of my child's time at BHS. It can be withdrawn or changed at any time by contacting the School General Office.
I have read these details and understand the provisions of the BHS Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy. I consent to the use of images of my child by Ballarat High School as below:
